Namesake: Named after the “Y2K bug,” a phenomena in the mid 2000s where computers around the globe experienced date malfunctions on January 1st, 2000. The acronym "Y2K" is attributed to programmer David Eddy, who oversaw fixing the bug.

A time when the future was tight leather pants, silver eyeshadow, shiny clothing, oakleys, gradients, and blobby electronics.
